ActiveCampaign consultant help: automations, forms, lead scoring and integrations

What to check in ActiveCampaign's included onboarding and migration, where outside help goes, and how DemiEmail scopes the work.

Before you hire an ActiveCampaign consultant, decide which part of the account needs help: the automations, the forms and scoring that feed them, or the connections to your other systems. DemiEmail handles scoped technical work, including custom workflows and integrations between your application, CRM and email-sending services. Work is quoted after we understand your setup and scope, and the price and deliverables are confirmed before any paid work starts.

Check what ActiveCampaign already includes

ActiveCampaign's onboarding page (opens in a new tab) lists onboarding as included free with all paid plans. Depending on the plan, it is a live 1:1 session or an AI course.

For qualifying plans, ActiveCampaign migrates the first 10 objects for free, such as contact lists, forms and templates, and it publishes a list of what the free migration includes and excludes. You can import more data yourself once the official migration is complete.

Before paying anyone, check which onboarding and migration your plan includes, and bring in outside help for what is left.

Where outside help usually goes

Before changing anything, write down what each automation should do and which form, score or integration starts it.

Automations

ActiveCampaign automations (opens in a new tab) can use split and conditional actions that route contacts automatically by their behavior, preferences and engagement, and behavioral triggers can send messages based on customer actions such as clicks or purchases.

Site and event tracking follows how your audience interacts with your website.

When an automation misfires, check its splits and its trigger against the data it receives before rebuilding it.

Forms

Submitting an ActiveCampaign form (opens in a new tab) can trigger a targeted email series, add a task for your sales team or update the contact's profile.

Lead scoring and deals

Lead scoring (opens in a new tab) awards or deducts points based on contact attributes and actions.

Workflows can trigger when contacts reach score milestones, and a score threshold can create a deal in your CRM for qualified prospects.

Integrations and custom connections

ActiveCampaign integrations (opens in a new tab) sync records between ActiveCampaign and the tools your team already uses, and most connect through native connections or Zapier.

For custom work, ActiveCampaign offers API access, a low-code tool called App Studio and webhooks.

The sending domain behind the account

Check the domain your ActiveCampaign email is sent from as well.

Google's sender guidelines (opens in a new tab) ask you to verify that your email service provider authenticates your domain's email with SPF and DKIM, and recommend setting up SPF, DKIM and DMARC for your domains.

DemiSignal's free check (opens in a new tab) reads only the public DNS records of the domain you enter, with no account needed, and tries commonly used DKIM selectors. A DNS finding shows how your domain is set up, not where a particular message landed. What the records do:

  • SPF lists the servers allowed to send email for your domain.
  • DKIM signs your outgoing email so receivers can confirm it was not changed.
  • Under RFC 9989 (opens in a new tab), DMARC produces a pass when the domain has a DMARC record and the domain in the From address is aligned with a domain that SPF or DKIM authenticated. Its record states the domain owner's handling preference for mail that fails, which can influence how receivers treat it.

If you need a certified partner

ActiveCampaign's Certified Partners directory (opens in a new tab) lists partners who specialize in different parts of ActiveCampaign, and its partners go through annual certification.

If certification is a requirement for you, start with that directory.

How DemiEmail runs the work

  1. Tell us what's happening: share your domain, the tools you use and the problem you're seeing, and we'll confirm whether we can help. Leave passwords and access credentials out of your message.
  2. Agree the scope: we define the work, required access, deliverables and price, and investigation and implementation are quoted to fit the problem.
  3. Make the changes and check the result: we carry out the agreed work, validate what we can observe and explain any remaining findings.

We can also discuss work with agencies and teams responsible for client domains, and agree who authorizes the changes, the access needed and the handover before starting.

We can't guarantee inbox placement. Mailbox providers decide how messages are handled.

Who does the work

Jan Demsar (opens in a new tab), founder of Demi Solutions, has developed software since 2007 and has built products and custom software for clients at Demi Solutions since 2010.

Most of that work has been designing the systems businesses run on, including CRM systems, marketing automation, analytics and email deliverability.

In 2022–2023 he was also CTO of Design In DC, a Washington agency, where he led all technology for the agency and its clients.
